Mari Realty Huntsville TX -- Check out my New-(ish) "Digs"

Mari Realty Huntsville TX -- Check out my New-(ish) "Digs" Going to the office has become very pleasant. I remodeled! It is quite a challenge to decorate and furnish a small space where "function" is of primary importance. Well, it took a couple of "takes," but I love it now and my clients have said they really like it and it is comfortable. Cool story. One of my clients, a very sharp and successful young businesswoman came by when I first moved into the space to sign some paperwork. She had a seat and we chatted for a bit. And then--I asked the question. -----I asked her if the chairs were comfortable. Well, at the time I had 2 chairs that I had purchased from an antique shop in Huntsville (by the way our Antique Shops are FABULOUS!). I recovered them in some beautiful fabric. They had a "cushy" seat with springs and everything----really kind of old school, like mattress springs. Her response to the question: "are those seats comfortable" was---"no, not really." I loved it--- she just told me the truth. Disclaimer: I would say that I always want the truth but, there are times that I do not want to be told the truth, like "Does this outfit make me look fat?" You know, I like for my husband to "gild the lily" a bit on that one. Well, I love my New-(ish) "digs." I have been in the office for a little over 2 months. Last "remodel" was completed about 3 weeks ago. Let me know what you think. Christmas 2015 w/ The Montgomerys
Sat. December 26, 2015 at 03:07 PM
Christmas Day 2015 Mel is amazing. He will turn 91 on January 3rd. He loved the gumbo and told me it was "among the best" he's had. That is a compliment because of the fierce competition over the years :-) He had 2 big bowls. It was "okra-less" dark roux gumbo with chicken, crawfish, andouille sausage, shrimp, fresh lump crab, fresh serrano, banana, chile & habanero peppers from our garden topped w/ a big juicy raw oyster in the center w/ a dusting of file powder served w/ corn bread muffins and a crisp light pinot grigio. Yummmmm....

Wow, Wow, Wow...a Night with the Houston Symphony in Huntsville TX...AWESOME!
Sun. March 22, 2015 at 10:59 AM
Wow, Wow, Wow...a Night with the Houston Symphony in Huntsville TX...AWESOME! Great seats, great date, great evening! Unbelievable--The Houston Symphony Orchestra, led by Maestro Hannu Lintu performed Beethoven's 3rd (The Eroica) originally dedicated to Napoleon Bonaparte, before he became such an "evil dweeb," and speaking of pure evil, the demands that composer, Franz Liszt makes on the soloist in the beautifully performed Liszt Piano Concerto #1 in E-flat Major w/soloist Markus Groh ended the first half --- And---take a breath--the opening the concert offered a "stunning" performance of the Aulis Sallinen "Fanfare, Op. 59." This performance was the moment that remarkably demonstrated the wonderful acoustics in the Performance Hall. With few exceptions, a splendidly performed program. The beginning of the second movement of the Eroica was a bit unfocused and then as the music swelled, so did the confidence of the performance of that...

Mon. December 29, 2014 at 09:00 AM
Many Miles of Mistletoe.... Reflections on Christmas morn Many miles of mistletoe linking open wounds and happy reunions mortality mirrors fathomless depths of hungry souls, longing for absolution Thanks be to Reason-- to sharing unhampered by vanity to redefining sacrifice to breaking simple bread together No roasted suckling pigs with lifeless jowls dripping with sweet nectar, but a simple meal with a timeless theme love, acceptance and charity at times interrupted by uncomfortable laughter ....whirling in the winds of decided coincidence while taking a stroll on common ground in a place where tokens are not accepted a place where as if dutifully, wisps of tangled words swirl about yet land safely -- miraculously with their original intent Many miles of mistletoe opening hearts and dressing wounds Happy reunions...and reunions missed but sending warm thoughts, laughter and memories of Christmas together ...
